news out of san jose where chp is looking for the driver of a deadly hit and run. it happened shortly after 3:00 at interstate 280. the chp says the driver spotted the body and called 911. it's not known how the woman ended up on the freeway. the chp has been investigating people all morning. anyone with information on this accident is asked to call the chp. janine de la vega will have more in a live report coming up at 6:30. >>> we haves a another problem on the other end of the bay. we have been talking about a boulder that rolled on to an suv. >> reporter: we are just south of the waldo tunnel and just north of the golden gate bridge. let's take a look hoe. you can see there is a broken fence line here. it's believe the at least a large boulder or rocks. and it also effected three other cars as well. literally about a minute and a ago -- very unstable along the 101 but traffic still moving here smoothly. at least on the five and six lanes. here with more on the traffic conditions and what happened this morning mary. what do you know this morning? >> reporter: we are about an hour i

collecting evidence. just before 7:00 last night san jose police officers in unmarked cars tried to stop the car but the driver of the car started ramming into two police cars and a parked vehicle. the officer got out of their vehicle and that's when the suspect accelerated towards the officer. out of fear for their lives they shot the suspect and one neighbor heard all the chaos while she was eating dinner. >> we heard a car crash and she looked out the window and it was a car crash and we ran outside and we all of a sudden heard a popping sound and i guess it was gunfire. and they had all of their guns drawn and she was telling everybody, go inside, go inside. [ police sirens ] >> reporter: that suspect was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries and there was a passenger with him and he is being cooperative and it is unknown if he will be charged with anything. this happened in an unincorporated area of san jose. they have people being placed on administrative leave, back out here live again this is a meticulous shooting. i do have a s

is on for two men who followed people from a light rail station in san jose and robbed them. janine de la vega sat station with -- is at the station with a look at the suspects. >> reporter: i am standing in front of the light rail station. police say passengers who were riding the train were followed from here and into a neighborhood about a half a mile away and then robbed. police want to know if you recognize these two men. one of them is black, the other is latino and both appear to be in their 20s. this is surveillance video of the two suspects leaving the train on march 8th. investigators say at 7:30 that night suspects followed victims from a train into the 2700 block. that is where they confronted the victims saying they would shoot if they didn't turn over their property. the suspects robbed the victims and ran away. the first is described as being black, 5'10", 180 pounds with a afro wearing a white t-shirt and white and black plaid shorts. the other is latino 5'8", 180 pounds. he f you have any information about this robbery or if you recog

crash reported in san jose. that sounds pretty serious. >>> it is 7:21. a landslide has forced several families to evacuate and almost a dozen homes are still in danger this morning. the pictures show just how massive the landslide was. it happened early yesterday morning about 50 miles north of seattle. reporter jeff is joining us live to let us know the future of the homes that are still in danger. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tori. geologists will come out and try to assess the damage and risk that is still posed to the few dozen homes. the slide is on the other side of this house. the video is amazing. it's best captured from up above. it looks like a huge bite was taken out of that hillside. the landslide itself is at least 700 feet long. and that cliff goes straight down about 200 feet. so much land mass was lost during yesterday morning's slide that the coastline here on would be island has now changed. it used to be straight and now it jets out about 40-50 feet. an immense amount of mud and rock and debris. only one home amazingly has been damaged so far. it was kno

this morning, firefighters say a space heater may have sparked a fire in a mobile home park in san jose. the fire broke out around 4:30 this morning in the manner mobile home park and knocked down a short time later. no one was inside. >> time is 7:03. happening right now dozens of people are standing in line right now for a chance to win free bread for a year. it's happening at the new budine bakery. show us how long that line is out there. and how long some people have been waiting. >> reporter: there are about 100 people in line and all of them are guaranteed a free loaf of bread 365 days out of the year. one of the first people in line came from sacramento. people are huddled out here. i also wanted to take a look at what 365 loafs of bread looks like. here it is. all these people are going to actually be getting coupons for a free loaf of bread everyday of the year. this is worth about $1500. i want to go inside and show you this brand new restaurant opening up here in cupertino. this is the very famous boudin bakery. it's the oldest longest running business out of san francisco. t

street and san jose several and in talking with the division chief a short time ago, he talked to us about the damage on the upper level of this damage and a good portion of the roof did collapse here. this was a very stubborn fire that burned for several hours this morning. it broke out at 2:30 a.m. people who live in the building woke up and everyone, luckily, did make it out safely. but five people will have to find another place to live because their units were destroyed by the fire. now, this building has several businesses down on the ground floor, including a clothing store. i talked with the owner this morning and she told me she's worried about the smoke and water damage she will find inside the place. >> it's pretty hard considering i've only owned the business eight and a half months. this is my dream job. i got out of corporate. i'm not gonna get down on this. >> reporter: that woman told me she does have insurance for her store. so she's trying to keep a positive attitude this morning. a fire investigator willing called in to try to investigate a cause for the fire. back

taylor and that's because a city of san jose street sweeper somehow crashed foot that power pole and you can see it is completely down and it's extremely dark out here, traffic lights are out as well as street lights are out. now police and firefighters are called here at 5:00 this morning, sparks were flying because the power pole was down and police are interviewing and determining what caused him to hit the pole as a precaution and police have shut down northbound coleman lanes before pg&e shut off the electricity. electricity has been knocked down to 577 customers in the area and we spoke with a sergeant who tells us what his immediate worry was. >> is a sergeant you were supposed to hear from tells us they were concerned about people in this area initially because live wires were down and they thought a fire was going to happen, firefighters were called here but they left, but i think we have that tape to hear what the sergeant said. >> our first concern because of the live wires and the dangers involved with that we have taken precautionary measures to prevent any further injuries

% of normal. san jose, 70% of normal. i want to make a correction here. i -- i originally -- about a half-hour ago, i said one of the driest marches ever in san francisco, it's the 20th driest march. it is january, february, march, the driest three-month stretch in san francisco so far. only 1.66 inches of rain has fallen. we need another 1.50 plus to go into second place. i doubt that happens. so again we're in record- setting territory for lack of rain. i just saw -- came across on twitter from the national weather service in mobile, alabama, last year they were running about 48 degrees above average, this year to 28 below. what a -- 2 to 8 below. what a difference. this is a very mild system coming up from the southwest. there could still be a little bit more rain. you will start to see some clearing taking place north to south. rainfall totals, most of it fell about .10 to .25 to .030. still some light rain in there. you can see the cloud cover continues to stream in here. temperatures, though really on the mild side. 50s for almost everybody except for a few upper 40s. this moisture
